FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method for low-temperature nitriding of titanium alloys involves the use of a plasma-forming gaseous mixture of nitrogen-argon, characterized in that the nitriding is carried out in plasma of glow discharge in vacuum chamber with use of said gas mixture containing nitrogen 15 wt % and argon 85 wt %, at temperature of 420-500°C.
EFFECT: increased hardness and contact wear resistance of titanium alloys at low temperature of treatment operation process in glow discharge plasma.
