FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: claimed group of inventions relates to the methods for modifying zeolites and can be used to produce zeolite with deactivated acid centres located on the outer surface of the zeolite crystals and their use. The method for producing the zeolite-containing oligomerization catalyst comprises deactivating the outer surface of crystalline ZSM-5 zeolite by treating the starting zeolite with an organosilicon compound. The organosilicon compound is treated in the catalyst forming step, the organosilicon compound being added to the moldable mixture containing boehmite as a binder, and zeolite type ZSM-5 with the Si/Al mole ratio of 20-60, as the active component, followed by calcination.

EFFECT: it is allowed to reduce the number of technological stages of producing the catalyst with deactivated external surface in comparison with the prototype and it does not require the use of an organic solvent.
