FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of crystalline zeolite materials. Method of producing zeolite of MEL type involves preparation of a reaction mixture characterized by a composition corresponding to the crystallization of MEL zeolite from a reaction mixture containing silica gel, sodium hydroxide, sodium aluminate and tetrabutylammonium hydroxide as a template. Crystallization under hydrothermal conditions is carried out in two stages. First step is carried out at 60–80 °C for 16–20 hours, second stage – at 140–160 °C for 40–48 hours. Solid crystalline product is separated, washed, dried, annealed and ion exchange operation is performed.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a MEL type zeolite with crystal size of 200–300 nm, with a developed porous structure, with a micropore surface of at least 280 m2/g and crystal outer surface of at least 100 m2/g, as well as with reduced concentration of Broensted acidic sites on the outer surface of crystals, which is not more than 4 mcmole/g.
