SUBSTANCE: in the method for metabolic syndrome prediction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, including definition of prognostic risk factors, the initial values of vascular endothelial growth factor - VEGF, ceruloplasmin - CP, immunoreactive insulin - IRI, fasting glucose, body mass index - BMI, triglycerides - TG are examined, and a discriminant equation: D=-2.75+0.35×VEGF-0.65×CP+0.07×IRI+0.38×Glucose+0.26×BMI+1.28×TG is solved, where D is a discriminant function whose boundary value is zero, VEGF is the initial level of the vascular endothelial growth factor, measured in pg/ml; CP is the initial level of ceruloplasmin, measured in μg/ml; IRI is the initial level of immunoreactive insulin, measured in mcUn/ml; glucose is the initial level of fasting glycemia, measured in mmol/l; BMI is the initial body mass index, measured in kg/m2; TG is the initial level of triglycerides, measured in mmol/l; when D is greater than or equal to zero, development of metabolic syndrome is predicted in a year, and at D less than zero undeveloped metabolic syndrome is predicted.

EFFECT: invention allows to improve the efficiency of metabolic syndrome development prediction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by an integrated assessment of vascular endothelial growth factor, marker of lipid peroxidation, insulin resistance marker, glycemia, body mass index, and lipid metabolism.
