SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to infectious diseases and paediatrics, and can be used to predict the course of chronic viral hepatitis C in children. Determining: glucose level, insulin level, calculating HOMA-IR index. It involves ultrasonic examination of abdominal cavity organs and liver elastography to determine presence of hepatic steatosis, hepatic fibrosis, hepatomegaly, pancreatic lipomatosis. Derived values are entered into the formulas for calculating the linear discriminant function – LDF1 – favourable clinical course of the disease and LDF2 – unfavourable clinical course of the disease. If LDF1 is more than LDF2, a favourable course of chronic viral hepatitis C in children is predicted, while LDF2 is more than LDF1 – an unfavourable course of the disease in children.

EFFECT: method can be used to increase the accuracy of predicting the clinical course of chronic viral hepatitis C due to the integrated assessment of laboratory and instrumental data.
