FIELD: mining industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of infrared spectroscopy and concerns a method for assessing the content of organic matter by aliphatic and aromatic fragments in sedimentary shale rocks containing type II kerogen. The method includes grinding rock samples, homogenization with potassium bromide, pressing the mixture into a tablet, measuring the optical densities of absorption bands at wave numbers 2925, 1630, 798 and in the regions of 1000-1100 and 400-500 cm-1 of the infrared spectrum (A2925, A1630, A798, A1000-1100, A400-500). The obtained data are used to calculate the content of separately aliphatic and aromatic fragments according to the following formulas: and

EFFECT: increasing the expressiveness of the method and providing the possibility of obtaining data on the structural group composition and assessment of the content of organic matter in the rocks of unconventional reservoirs.
