FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the treatment of metals by pressure and can be used in the production of circular profiles by multi-pass radial forging. Initial blank with a rectangular cross-section is subjected to compression simultaneously by two mutually perpendicular pairs of strikers. Pairs of strikers are disposed with a displacement of their working surfaces having a concave stream relative to each other along the forging axis by an amount greater than the length of the working surface. Compression of the initial workpiece is carried out in directions perpendicular to the sides of the rectangle. Obtain a blank with a cross-section in the form of a pointed square, which is rotated about the forging axis by an angle π/4. Crimps of this blank are produced to produce a pointed octagonal billet. Then, the octagonal preform is crimped and rotated around the forging axis before each compression to form a circular profile.
EFFECT: as a result, the technological capabilities of the method are extended and the quality of the round profiles obtained is improved.
