FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: device for measuring respiration parameters comprises a series-connected timer, processing unit and an optical scanning sensor located in a guide, attached to a couch by means of a bracket. An inextensible cord passes through the guide, encircling the patient's chest. One end of the inextensible cord is attached to the couch on which the patient is lying, and the other end of the inextensible cord is connected to an elastic element which is also attached to the couch. A method for measuring respiration parameters consists in that the optical scanning sensor continuously records the movement of an the inextensible cord section, determined by the movement of the patient's chest during respiration, and transmits data on the movement of the inextensible cord to the processing unit which calculates relative movements of the chest over time by linking the current position of the inextensible cord section to the time interval, information about which comes from the timer, in order to calculate the values of amplitude and frequency-time parameters of respiration.
EFFECT: providing inexpensive, simple measurement of respiration parameters, non-invasive, comfortable for the patient and having a relatively high accuracy.
