FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: following signs are distinguished: alcohol concentration in the venous blood of the femoral, portal and inferior vena cava, portal vein diameter, the number of liver vessels with a diameter of 0.3-0.5 cm per unit area of 25 cm2, the thickness of the muscular wall of the left ventricle. The activity of alcohol-oxidizing enzyme systems is also determined: alcohol dehydrogenase in the hepatocytes of the beams region and in the hepatocytes of the central vein region; microsomal ethanol-oxidizing enzyme system: in periportal hepatocytes, in hepatocytes of the beams region, in hepatocytes of the central vein region, catalase-peroxidase system in the hepatocytes of the central vein of the liver acinus and the corresponding coefficients of classification functions. Further, 5 linear classification functions are used to determine the liver disease form f(1-5), using the mathematical expression. The obtained values of the classification functions are compared among themselves and the larger value of f in the series f(1-5) is used to predict the form of liver disease and the cause of death - general toxic or toxic effect of ethanol associated with heart or liver damage.
EFFECT: method allows to identify the form of alcoholic liver damage and clarify the immediate causes of death in severe ethanol poisoning during forensic examination of corpses due to the definition of biochemical indicators.
