FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises a replaceable piston of a material used for the manufacture of parts of the cylinder-piston group of an internal combustion engine with an external evaluation cylindrical surface mounted on the electric heater body, an electric drive connected through a traction system and a crank mechanism with a sliding ring reciprocating along the external evaluation surface of the replaceable piston and contacting with the heated test oil in the oil bath, as well as a heat shield made, in the upper end of the oil bath, in the form of two symmetrical half-cylinders with a height H equal to, at least, 1.5, height h of the estimated piston and having the side forming radial holes for the temperature sensor in the work area of the sliding ring.

EFFECT: increasing the evaluation reliability of detergent properties of motor oils.
