FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for evaluation of operational properties of diesel fuel, in particular to a method of assessing the propensity of diesel fuels to form deposits in injectors of diesel injection systems, which includes pumping of test fuel through heated to a given temperature gasoline injector in a cyclic mode for not more than four days, in each of which for 18 hours is fuel is injected through heated injector for 0.2 s with interval between injections of 300 s, and during next 6 hours of each day injector is held in idle state with switched off heating, upon termination of test is fixed color of bottom of injector bottom, which is compared with experimentally obtained calibration color scale and evaluated in points of color scale, wherein each day after idle state of injector checking tightness of its shut-off needle, at depressurisation of which fuel is considered to be substandard, characterized by that before the test the initial pumping rate is measured Vn, the analyzed diesel fuel is injected for 18 hours through the initial injector heated to 200 °C, and after idle state of injector every other day, pumping rate Vi (where i is test sequence number) of analyzed diesel fuel through cold injector is measured, which is compared with the initial speed value, if the pumping rate falls by more than 0.2 relative to the initial speed in any of the four days, the test is stopped and the fuel is considered to be substandard, and at dropping rate of pumping less than 0.2 relative to initial pumping rate, test of diesel fuel is continued, upon completion of test, diesel fuel propensity to formation of deposits is evaluated by generalized index A, calculated by following relationship: A=Nb⋅Kz, where Nb – color of bottom surface after four test days (in points of color scale); Kz is value of drop of pumping rate after 4 days of test relative to initial speed, and at A>0.4 fuel is considered to be prone to deposits.

EFFECT: high information value of the method and accuracy of estimating the propensity of diesel fuel to form deposits with simultaneous approximation of test conditions to operating conditions.
