SUBSTANCE: polymeric compound contains a linear ultraviolet (UV) radiation absorbing polyester, which includes a chemically bound UV-chromophore. The polyester has a main chain that does not have branches, and the UV-chromophore is a side group attached to the main polyester chain. A composition comprising a cosmetically acceptable carrier medium and the said UV absorbing polymeric compound are also described.
EFFECT: new UV absorbing polymeric compounds with increased efficiency of protecting the skin's epidermis from UV radiation, reducing the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation on the skin.
