SUBSTANCE: barrier coating contains: a barrier material having defects in the composition; a coating completely covering the defects of the barrier material, wherein the defects include recesses within the barrier material and a substantial amount of the said coating does not protrude within the said recesses. In the operating state of the said multilayer barrier coating, the presence of the coating reduces or prevents diffusion of vapours and/or gas molecules through the recesses within the said barrier material.
EFFECT: invention provides a barrier coating that protects sensitive products from penetration of moisture and unwanted ambient gases.
