FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a composite panel with a functional element with electrically controlled optical properties, to a method for manufacture thereof and to an application thereof in vehicles and construction. The composite panel 100 is comprised of a stacking sequence of an outer panel 1, a first intermediate layer 3a, a second intermediate layer 3b and an inner panel 2. The intermediate layers 3a, 3b comprise a thermoplastic polymer film with a plasticiser. A functional element 5 with electrically controlled optical properties is located at least in sections between the first intermediate layer 3a and the second intermediate layer 3b. The functional element 5 constitutes a functional element based on polymer-dispersed liquid crystals (PDLC) and comprises a second stacking sequence of at least a first carrier film 15, an active layer 11 and a second carrier film 14. The outlet surface 8 of the active layer 11 is sealed with a barrier layer 4 at least on one side surface of the functional element 5. The barrier layer 4 is made so as to prevent diffusion of the plasticiser through the barrier layer 4 made by means of vacuum deposition of a thin layer.

EFFECT: protection from the sun and unwanted looks is provided.
