FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a transgenic plant cell, a transgenic plant, a part of a transgenic plant, and a transgenic plant seed containing an exogenous polynucleotide encoding monoacylglycerol acyltransferase (MGAT) and having an elevated level of triacylglycerol (TAG), as well as a method for obtaining an extracted lipid therefrom and their use for production of industrial product. Also, a method for obtaining of a plant cell or seed that has an elevated TAG level comprising MGAT-encoding exogenous polynucleotide introduction into the cell or seed, is disclosed. The invention also relates to a method for production of alkyl esters of fatty acids, a method for manifacture of a food product, each of which comprises applying the above cell, plant, part of the plant or its seed, and also to the obtained food product. A fermentation process using the above plant cell is also disclosed.
EFFECT: invention allows to effectively increase the level of triacylglycerol in a plant cell.
