FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: in the proposed method for determining instant current values in a three-core cable without metal covers, including measuring the magnetic field strength over the cable, calculating the instant current values in the core. The measurements are done by three single-component magnetic field sensors located at a distance d above the cable cores perpendicular to the radius and cable route. The calculation of the instant current values in each core is carried out according to the formulas: ; ; ; where H1, H2, H3 is the magnetic field strength, measured using single-component sensors; ; ; r1 is the distance from the centre of the core to the surface of the cable; r2 is the distance between the centres of the cores of a three-core cable; d is the distance from the cable surface to the sensor axis.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of determining the instant current values in a three-core cable without metal covers when the sensors are positioned at a distance from the cable.
