FIELD: engine devices and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: liquid-cooled internal combustion engine comprises at least one cylinder block head (1) which is connected to mounting surface of a cylinder block (14). The cylinder block head (1) comprises at least one integrated cooling jacket (16a), (16b). The internal combustion engine has four cylinders arranged in row along longitudinal axis of the cylinder block head (1). Each cylinder has at least one exhaust opening for discharging exhaust gases from the cylinder through an exhaust discharge system, whereby a exhaust pipe is connected to each opening. The exhaust pipes of cylinders are united in series into combined exhaust pipe. The corresponding at least one exhaust pipe of the outermost cylinder and at least one exhaust pipe of the adjacent inner cylinder are combined in the cylinder block head (1) into partial exhaust pipe (6), forming a partial exhaust manifold (10a), (10b) before two partial exhaust pipes (6) of four cylinders are united from outside cylinder block head (1) into combined exhaust pipe. The exhaust discharge system leads to the outside of the cylinder block head (1) in the form of two exhaust openings (15a), (15b) for exhaust gas discharge. The two exhaust openings (15a), (15b) are offset and spaced apart along the longitudinal axis of the cylinder block head (1) and have identical spacing from the mounting surface (14). The lower cooling jacket (16a) is located between the exhaust pipes and the mounting surface (14) of the cylinder block head (1). The upper cooling jacket (16b) which is located on the side of the exhaust pipes opposite the lower cooling jacket (16a). At least one joint (13) is provided between the lower cooling jacket (16a) and the upper cooling jacket (16b) and serves to pass the coolant. At least one joint (13) is located adjacent to the partial exhaust pipe (6). A method of the internal combustion engine operation is disclosed.

EFFECT: improved cooling of the engine, in which the exhaust pipes are partially located in the cylinder block head.
