FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: samples of plants grown in the field are selected. Then, in the flowering phase, measuring the length and width of the flag and subflag leaves of the main shoot is carried out on the selected samples of rice plants with any arrangement of leaves in space relative to the main shoot. Thereinafter, the average area Sav of the flag and subflag leaf laminae is determined. Then the average grain weight Wav of the main panicle in the phase of full ripeness is determined. Thereinafter, the productivity index OMS of the selection rice samples are calculated. By the value of this index, the productivity of plants is assessed, while those that have its minimum value are classified as highly productive.

EFFECT: increasing the selection efficiency, reducing the process duration and labour consumption, selecting highly productive rice samples.
