FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: in proposed method, the engine comprises a compression cylinder and an expansion cylinder with pistons, as well as a spherical combustion chamber. In the expansion cylinder, the second piston is mounted opposite the first one so that they have their upper dead centers (UDC) near the geometric center of the cylinder. With closed valves, the internal surface of the combustion chamber has the form of a closed sphere. The compression piston reaches its UDC before the first expansion piston. When opening the shut-off valve of the combustion chamber the first piston expansion is in its UDC, and the second piston is its UDC at a distance corresponding to the turn of the crankshaft on the corner of 20-40 degrees, and moves from the geometric center of the cylinder.
EFFECT: efficiency enhancement of the engine.
