SUBSTANCE: mobile station (eg, an MTC device), an access node (eg, BSS), and various methods are described herein for implementing an accelerated system access procedure (ASAP) that improves the efficiency of using radio resources by ensuring that: (1) the mobile station transmits the packet channel request to the access node, wherein the packet channel request includes a unique identifier associated with the mobile station, and (2) the access node, after receiving the packet channel request, transmits a message of immediate assignment (Immediate Assignment - IA) to the mobile station, and IA-message includes a unique identifier associated with the mobile station.

EFFECT: increase in bandwidth.
