FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. Said technical result is achieved by receiving MTA request messages for a mobile station in order to perform part of MTA radio access; transmitting, to a subsystem of a base station (BSS), a multilateration request message which indicates a packet access method for performing the MTA procedure; and receiving from the BSS a batch assignment message confirming that the BSS has received the multilateration request message without assigning packet resources to the mobile station, wherein the packet assignment message comprises a packet message on immediate assignment.

EFFECT: enabling a mobile station (MS) to acknowledge an access attempt to perform a multilateration timing advance (MTA) procedure using a packet access technique without concurrently assigning resources.
