The method includes, for each URL in the sample set, determining whether the URL is optional, by generating the first playback result, using the content for the URL, and the second playback result, without using the content for the URL, and calculating the similarity estimate for the URL by comparing the first playback result and the second playback result. URL is optional when the similarity score is greater than the similarity threshold. This method can also include storing the URL pattern in the data store of optional resource templates when most URLs in the sample set are optional.
