FIELD: computer technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and method for processing embedded resources for a web page that must be played back. In the method, URL for the embedded resource in the web page is received from a requesting process; it is determined, whether the embedded resource is an optional resource, by means of determining that URL for the embedded resource corresponds to a pattern in data storage identifying optional resources; as a reaction to determining that the embedded resource is the optional resource, a response is issued indicating that the extraction of the embedded resource is not required for the playback of the web page; and, as a reaction to determining that the embedded resource is not the optional resource, a response is issued indicating that the extraction of the embedded resource content is required.
EFFECT: technical result is control of embedded resources for the web page.
