FIELD: metallurgical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: when processing of nickel-containing sulfide copper concentrates, the charge material is melted, the melt is divided into a matte and a slag, followed by conversion of the target product to a blister copper and a slag. When converting, add a flux consisting of a mixture of B2O3 and CaO at a ratio of 2.7 to 3.5, which is previously subjected to calcination to prevent volatilization of B2O3. The flux is introduced into the concentrate in an amount 4-9 times more than the mass of iron, nickel and cobalt oxides in the concentrate. From the resulting slag containing iron, nickel, cobalt, metals are recovered. Conversion is carried out until the concentrate is completely transferred to the blister copper.
EFFECT: method helps to simplify the processing of nickel-containing sulfide copper concentrate.
