FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: oral care composition includes (i) a peroxide bleaching agent and (ii) a particulate abrasive, in which the particles are previously coated with a coating layer formed by a coating material selected from, at least, one saturated C12-C24 fatty acid, at least, one monounsaturated C16-C30 fatty acid, or any mixture of two or more thereof. The method for bleaching a tooth is also provided that comprises applying the above composition to the surface of a mammalian tooth.
EFFECT: using a particulate abrasive with the above coating provides chemical stability of peroxide and, at the same time, the physical stability of the composition for prolonged storage while maintaining efficiency for cleaning and whitening teeth and the possibility of daily use by the consumer.
