FIELD: pharmacology.

SUBSTANCE: composition for oral care comprises (i) a whitening complex comprising crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone in combination with hydrogen peroxide, and (ii) a thickening system comprising silicon dioxide as the first thickening agent and crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone as a the second thickening agent. Wherein silicon dioxide constitutes more than 15 wt % of the silicon dioxide and crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone mixture in the thickener system, and the silicon dioxide is present in an amount from 2.5 to 4.5 wt % in relation to the composition weight. Crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone is present in an amount of 1 to 3.5 wt % in relation to the composition weight, and the total weight of silicon dioxide and crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone is from 4.5 to 6.5 wt % in relation to the composition weight. Wherein the composition contains less than 5 wt % of water in relation to the composition weight. A method of whitening teeth, comprising applying the above composition to a mammalian tooth surface, is proposed as well.

EFFECT: content of the composition for oral care provides rheological properties, which make them easily pumped under typical process conditions encountered during industrial manufacturing, with good cosmetical stability during manufacturing and long-term storage and effectiveness in cleaning and whitening teeth.
