SUBSTANCE: device contains a front curved optical part containing a front curved upper and lower optical surface, a rear curved optical part containing a rear curved upper and lower optical surface, a cavity formed by front curved lower optical surface and rear curved top optical surface, a fluid with the first refractive index and a dielectric film in contact with part of the fluid and a covering electrode, capable to establish the electrical field, gas with the second refractive index that differs from the first refractive index; and one or more sections of the tank. Reduction of the tank volume leads to the movement of fluid into the cavity through the channels and the exchange of gas and fluid. In the first discrete state, the cavity contains fluid, and in the second - gas.
EFFECT: providing a variable focal length that varies discretely.
