FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: composition for food enrichment of the animal diet with microelements contains: a non-toxic carrier and an ethylenediamine ligand (EDA)-metal complex of the formula: M (EDA) X, where M is a metal selected from the group consisting of zinc, iron, copper and manganese, EDA is an ethylenediamine ligated to the metal, and X is represented by counterions chosen to provide a neutral metal and/or ligand. A method for food enrichment of the animal's diet with microelements involves feeding an animal with an effective amount of the ethylenediamine ligand (EDA)-metal complex of the above formula: M (EDA) X. Wherein the animal can be represented by livestock or poultry. The non-toxic carrier can be selected from the group consisting of sugars, fermentation residue, feed grain, corn cob meal, cellulose and other wood fibers and whey. An effective amount of said metal-ligand complex is sufficient to meet the daily requirement of the animal in the selected metal.
EFFECT: enriching animal feeds with microelements in a highly digestible form, which is ensured due to the increased solubility of the proposed complex, the higher stability in the gastrointestinal tract, the increased absorption into the bloodstream, and/or the improved metabolic digestibility.
