FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: method involves preliminary preparation of the surface to be treated by heating with a continuous laser beam to the depth of allowance being removed. The laser beam is moved in a straight trajectory with linear speed and with constant power and wavelength angle to the surface of the workpiece in the range from 75 to 80° in the form of focused light spot diameter of which is chosen from the condition of providing sufficient power density, enough for phase transformations in the structure of workpiece on the depth of the allowance and the formation in it of local metastable zone with altered elastic properties, the intersection of which with cutting plane provides segmentation and fragmentation of chips.
EFFECT: reliability increase.
