FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves heating treated surface of workpiece with a gas flame prior to treatment along a helical line followed by cooling and cutting off allowance. To increase reliability of chip control heating is performed until cut off layer achieves temperature higher than temperature of full phase transition As3 for treated steel with formation of nonequilibrium structure during its cooling.
EFFECT: axis of burner flame lies tangentially relative to processed surface and parallel to angle of inclination and main angle in plan major cutting edge in plane of front surface of cutting tool.
