FIELD: metal working.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metal working and is intended for processing parts from various grades of steels and alloys thereof, wherein high requirements are raised for removing chips from the processing area on lathes equipped with CNC. The method includes imparting to the workpiece and forming, by means of a local laser beam of the laser head, a local metastable area on the surface of the workpiece along a helical line, followed by processing by a cutting tool. The local laser beam of the laser head is therein adjusted to the focal length ensuring formation of a local metastable structure, variable in depth, on the surface of the steel workpiece, and the following processing is executed using a cutting tool with a negative front angle in the range from (-10°) to (-30°), creating additional compression deformation of the cut layer for stable segmentation of the flow chips.
EFFECT: durability of the cutter is increased due to the reduction in the dynamic force load and reduction in vibrations.
