FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves linear displacement of laser with constant power as well as wave length at inclination angle to billet surface being processed within 75 to 80° in the form of a focused light spot. Diameter of the spot is selected to ensure power density sufficient for phase conversions to a depth not exceeding the cut allowance. Note here that workpiece rotates at preset frequency to make local metastable structure along spiral line. Subsequent machining results in intersection of local metastable structure and cutting tool in cutting plane to make angle of not more than 90°.
EFFECT: this allows, taking into account the positive angle of inclination of the main cutting edge, to remove the cutting tool from collision with the local metastable structure and increase the tool resistance.
