SUBSTANCE: audio encoder for encoding the input audio data to receive the output audio data comprises an input interface for receiving a plurality of audio channels, a plurality of audio objects, and metadata associated with one or more of the plurality of audio objects; a mixer for reducing a plurality of objects and a plurality of channels in such a way as to obtain a plurality of pre-merged channels, wherein each pre-merged channel containes audio data of the channel and audio data of, at least, one object; a basic encoder for basic encoding of the input data of the base encoder; and a metadata compression module for compressing metadata associated with one or more of a plurality of audio objects.

EFFECT: increasing the compression efficiency with high sound quality.
