FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: probing ultrasonic pulse is injected through the contact liquid into the outer lateral surface of the female ring of pressure coupling. Propagating in the radial direction, the ultrasonic wave is reflected from the joint surface and, reaching the contact area of the control object and the sensor, is detected by the flaw detector as the first echo pulse. Reflecting from the outer surface of the ring, the first echo pulse goes to the object following the sounding pulse, is again reflected from the landing site (joint surface) and deteced as the second echo pulse. On the basis of measuring the amplitudes of two adjacent echo pulses on a free ring, then on a controlled landing, the actual value of the reflection coefficient from the landing site is calculated, numerically characterizing the magnitude of the interference and, consequently, the quality of interference fit.
EFFECT: ensuring the possibility of obtaining quantitative data on the local value of the interference and the nature of the stress-strain state of the parts in the interface of the interference fit.
