FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: method contains steps of: calibration area control, which covers at least part of the area illuminated by lighting device; and calibration of settings of the light exit of lighting device, wherein the control operation includes recurring stages: detection of any relevant changes from multiple relevant changes, containing at least change light intensity in the calibration area over control time, while keeping the light exit of lighting device constant; and determination of the magnitude of change over control time until the changes magnitude is below the limit value. Thus, the lighting device does not perform calibration until it detects the period without changes or with slight changes.
EFFECT: less sensitivity to interference in the scene, does not require the infrastructure associated with the centrally controlled lighting system.
