FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely cardiology, therapy and endocrinology, and concerns predicting an individual risk of increased basal glycemia six months after initiation of statin therapy. To do this, prior to treatment, the basal glucose level, total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol are determined. Value of the discriminant function (d) is calculated by the formula: d = OXC*(0.214) + TG*(0.809) + CH-LDL/CH-HDL*(0.346) + basal glucose * (-0.252) + a, where a is a constant of the displacement of the canonical linear discriminant function equal to -2.633. When value (d) is greater than -0.038, an individual risk of increased basal glycemia is predicted, and when value (d) is less than -0.038, the absence of basal glycemia increase in six months from the start of statin therapy is predicted.
EFFECT: method allows identifying patients with high risk of increased basal glycemia with high accuracy and, accordingly, timely prevention of carbohydrate metabolism disorders.
