FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to cardiology, and can be used to predict an increase in arterial stiffness growth among patients receiving lipid-lowering therapy. Patients in need of lipid-lowering therapy, before starting treatment, determine the level of resistin and high-density non-lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL cholesterol) in the blood. Value of the discriminant function (d) is calculated according to the formula: d = Resistin*(-0.749) + non-HDL cholesterol*(0.715) + a, where a is the displacement constant of the canonical linear discriminant function, equal to -0.215. When the value of (d) is less than -0.367, an individual risk of an increase in the cardio-malleolar vascular index is predicted, and when the value of (d) is more than -0.367, the absence of an increase in the cardio-malleolar vascular index is predicted six months after the start of lipid-lowering therapy.
EFFECT: proposed method allows to reliably and with high efficiency predict an individual risk of increasing arterial stiffness after six months from the start of lipid-lowering therapy, carry out timely pathogenetic prophylaxis and reduce residual cardiovascular risk.
