FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: proposed embodiments to control oxygen concentration in exhaust gases. In one example, the method to control engine includes stages of operating a lean-burn engine; and in response to the oxygen concentration of the engine exhaust gases below the threshold value, air is injected into the exhaust channel of the engine between a three-component catalytic converter and a selective catalytic reduction device (SCR), and in response to the oxygen concentration of the engine exhaust gases above the threshold value, the injection of air into the exhaust channel of the engine is blocked.
EFFECT: excessive emissions can be neutralized during lean-burn operation.
