FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: detail surface is impacted by an indenter oscillating with an ultrasonic frequency. The indenter is pressed against the surface to be treated at an angle of 60-80 degrees. The treatment is carried out in a non-oxidizing atmosphere created by argon or nitrogen, or helium, or carbon dioxide, or a mixture thereof.
EFFECT: hardness of the surface layer increases and the depth of the hardened layer of metal details increases.
