FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and machine building and can be used for surface hardening of new parts of machines and tools, as well as for reconditioning of worn parts. Method of producing hardened nickel-chromium-boron-silicon coating on metal parts involves depositing self-fluxing powder of PG-CP4 grade with gas-powder laser surfacing, preparation of built-up surface and friction treatment with hemispherical indenter from cubic boron nitride at 500–700 N.

EFFECT: increasing hardness of surface layer ≥1,000 HV and formation of favorable compressive (negative) residual stresses |σ|>400 MPa due to creation on surface of highly deformed layer with disperse structure and completely deformation-dissolved in solid solution by nickel borides and chromium carbides at simultaneous achievement of high quality of coating surface.
