FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: method for frame formation includes the steps of: reception of at least one frame at the input port of the software-configurable network input switch; determination of the network output switch and final output port for at least one frame received; calculation of the most preferred path to the output port and its encoding with at least one MPLS transport tag; modification of the above frame while retaining the embedded protocol identifier (EPI) field, replacing the EPI field by a predetermined constant, leaving the MAC-header unchanged, adding the MPLS Ethertype tag containing the stored EPI, adding at least one MPLS transport tag coding the most preferred path, sending the modified frame to the next switch according to the calculated route of the most preferred path.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of network switches resources usage by determining the path of frame transportation over the network by transport MPLS-tags set by the network controller.
