FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the preparation of single crystals of lead molybdate used as scintillators for high-precision electromagnetic calorimetry of high-energy particles. In the process for the preparation of lead molybdate, the parent salts of sodium molybdate and lead nitrate are dissolved in water. Water for acidification of lead nitrate is acidified with 0.1 M nitric acid to pH=5-6, and water for acidification of sodium molybdate is basified with 0.1 M sodium hydroxide to pH=8-9. The prepared solutions of salts are poured simultaneously and at an equal volume rate into an acetate-buffer solution with pH=6.

EFFECT: production of pure lead molybdate with the exclusion of hydrolysis of the initial solutions of salts, thereby eliminating the impurity formation factor.
