FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing iron (III) oxide Fe2O3, and can be used as a catalyst in reactions of neutralization of automobile exhaust gases. Initial salts of iron (III) and sodium carbonate are dissolved in water, in which appropriate medium is pre-created: water for dissolution of iron (III) salt is acidified with acid to pH 5–6, and water for dissolution of sodium carbonate is alkaline with sodium hydroxide to pH 8–9. Prepared solutions of salts in equivalent quantities are poured simultaneously and at equal volume rate into distilled water with intensive stirring so that initial solutions are not directly mixed. Obtained residue is calcined at temperature of 600 °C.
EFFECT: excluding hydrolysis of initial solutions of salts, thereby eliminating impurities formation factor.
