FIELD: tobacco industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electronic aerosol smoking article, in particular, to a system and method of obtaining smoking topography data from the electronic smoking article. Electronic smoking article includes an aerosol-forming substrate; heating element configured to heat the aerosol-forming substrate; a battery configured to supply power to the heating element for heating it; air flow sensor configured to generate an output signal based on a measured air flow in at least a part of the electronic smoking article; processor configured to detect a user interaction with the smoking article based on determination of the air flow sensor output signal having a predetermined threshold value, to read the voltage change data in the battery when the user interaction with the electronic smoking article is detected, and to arrange this data into a pattern, characterizing the interaction of the user with the electronic smoking article by at least a change in the battery voltage; and a memory configured to store the data pattern in a structured multi-byte format.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is the possibility to control and record moments, length and duration of puffs with reference to voltage changes.
