FIELD: smoking accessories.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processes of awakening a device in association with activation and control of an aerosol delivery device, such as an electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) device. Aerosol delivery device is controlled by communication with the device based on activation after the device is awakened from a power saving mode or state. Aerosol delivery device includes a rechargeable power supply configured to provide power for aerosol formation, device electronics configured to generate an aerosol in response to the application of power from the power supply, and a blocking unit configured to perform either one or both of the power supply overcharging prevention, and preventing the power supply from the power supply to the device electronics in the locked state, and enabling the power supply recharging and the power supply from the power supply to the device electronics in the unlocked state. Blocking node is configured to detect an awakening event while the blocking node is in a blocked state, to awaken the blocking node in response to the awakening event, to perform an authentication process and, in response to completion of the authentication process, transfer the blocking node between the locked state and the unlocked state.

EFFECT: enabling initiation of an authentication process which does not lead to depletion of power to the ENDS device while waiting for authentication.
