FIELD: medicine; neurology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely neurology, and concerns the evaluation and correction of neurological status based on the monitoring of oxidative stress parameters in patients with ischemic stroke. For this, in addition to the standard therapy, alpha-tocopherol acetate and mexidol are administered. Doses and administration regimes are adjusted depending on the severity of the neurological deficit assessed as per the NIHSS scale. In mild cases – eight or less points – alpha-tocopherol acetate – 100–200 mg 1–2 times a day in pellet form, and mexidol – 100 mg in pellet form, with a course of 12 days. At moderately pronounced disorders – from nine to twelve points – alpha-tocopherol acetate – 100–200 mg 1–2 times a day in pellet form, mexidol – 100 mg intramuscularly, with a course of 12 days. With a severe neurologic deficit – more than thirteen points – alpha-tocopherol acetate – in the form of 50 % oil solution intramuscularly, 100 mg per day, mexidol – 600 mg intravenously, by drop infusion, daily for 12 days. Next, the drugs are administered in pellet form: alpha-tocopherol acetate – 200 mg twice a day, mexidol – 50 mg per day, with a course of one month.

EFFECT: such a differentiated therapy scheme allows to more accurately adjust the level of indices of oxidative stress, which, in turn, ensures effective restoration of impaired functions, shortening the terms of treatment and rehabilitation in this group of patients.
