SUBSTANCE: system comprises a curtain airbag module, which in the normal unfilled condition is embedded in the longitudinal roof bar. This module comprises an inflatable curtain attached to the filling unit. The inflatable curtain has a front part, on which an elongated inflatable extension element is provided. When filling the curtain in the event of a collision, the elongated inflatable extension element extends the curtain in such a way that, at least partially, it is arranged on top of the front pillar and at least part of the cabin handle. The elongated inflatable extension element is the first extension element and extends from the curtain front. The inflatable curtain can also have a second triangular extension element that extends from the front of the curtain airbag when the curtain is filled.
