FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: method for C2-oxygenates production by anaerobic fermentation using a microbial culture of a carboxydotrophic microorganism is provided. The method includes preparation of a sulfur additive, contacting the microbial culture of the microorganism with a carbon monoxide substrate, maintaining of the microbial culture at a pH less than 5.3 in an aqueous fermentation medium containing a sulfur additive, and recovery of one or more C2-oxygenates from the aqueous fermentation medium. At that, the sulfuric additive contains an inorganic sulfur compound S(II)-S(IV), which promotes sulfur oxoanions formation in the aqueous fermentation medium.
EFFECT: invention provides achievement of high titers of ethanol in the fermentation zone, optional presence of cysteine in the fermentation zone.
