FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biochemistry. Method is proposed for obtaining a lipid product by microbial conversion of a gaseous substrate (variants). In one variant, the method comprises providing a gaseous substrate in a culture containing one methanotrophic microorganism in a liquid nutrient medium of a bioreactor, microbially converting under fermentation conditions the gaseous substrate into a lipid product in the cell membrane of a methanotrophic microorganism and isolation of a lipid product from the cell membrane of a methanotrophic microorganism. Moreover, the gaseous substrate contains CH4 and O2 in the O2:CH4 from 5:1 to 0.9:1. In another variant, the method comprises feeding the substrate to a bioreactor containing a liquid nutrient medium and a single methanotrophic microorganism culture, microbiological transformation of the substrate to produce a lipid product and isolation of the lipid product from the cell membrane of the microorganism. And the substrate contains O2 and one compound from CH4, CH3OH or a combination thereof.
EFFECT: inventions provide for the production of lipids from methane-containing gaseous substrates, as well as a reduction in the release of methane into the atmosphere.
