FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce manganese flux for converter production. The flux contains, wt %: CaO 58.0-63.5; MnO 10.0-15.0; Al2O3 2.5-4.0; SiO2 10.0-16.0; Fe2O3 3.0-5.0. Additionally, it contains magnesium oxide in amount of 3.0-8.5 wt %. Charge for production of manganese flux contains manganese limestone as a manganese component, and a cement clinker as a lime-containing component with the following component ratio, wt %: cement clinker up to 6; the rest is manganese limestone. Additionally, it can contain magnesium-containing material in the form of brucite or dolomite.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase smelting efficiency by providing low melting point of the flux, while reducing the likelihood of slag foaming, reducing dust losses and enhancing stability of converter lining.
